FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

How often do I need to go to therapy?

The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your needs and goals. It would be great to start with weekly sessions to build a trusting relationship with your counsellor before spacing the sessions. Many clients start with weekly sessions, then shift to biweekly or monthly as progress is made. More frequent sessions may be needed during crises, while occasional check-ins can work for maintenance. Your counsellor will help determine the best schedule for you.

How long do I will stay in therapy?

The length of therapy varies for each person and depends on your goals, the issues you’re addressing, and your progress. It usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to feel a sense of progress. Some people benefit from short-term therapy, while others may choose longer-term support for ongoing growth or complex challenges. Your counsellor will work with you to regularly assess your needs and adjust the duration as necessary.

What if I don’t know my goals for therapy?

It’s okay if you’re unsure of your goals when starting therapy. Part of the process is exploring what’s most important to you. Your counsellor will help you identify concerns and work collaboratively to set meaningful goals since your first session.

What payment methods are accepted?

You can pay for your sessions online with a credit card or make an e-transfer.

Do you accept insurance?

Most health insurance plans cover part or the total amount of a counselling session. You must check with your specific health provider. We do not do direct billing at this time. However, you will have all the information on the receipt to request a reimbursement.

Do you offer a sliding scale (low-cost)?

What is your cancellation policy?
